The Institute of Mosaic Art, founded in 2005, is a premier mosaic education and resource center which
offers students expert instruction in the mosaic arts in a fun and welcoming environment.
IMA is located in Oakland, California's Jingletown Arts District and is part of the Bay Area's thriving art scene. IMA houses multiple classrooms and lecture spaces with lots of room to create. We have a mosaic resource library on site and an outdoor courtyard and garden filled with colorful mosaic murals and sculpture. IMA is proud to offer extensive programming with a diverse diverse curriculum in both contemporary and traditional mosaic techniques, focusing on all media.

IMA also offers courses in design, architectural applications, mosaic mural making, community mosaics, ceramic tile making and glass fusing for mosaics, as well as concrete and garden sculpture and many more courses for students of all levels-- from beginner to professional.
Two large exhibition spaces feature rotating mosaic exhibitions of professional and student work. IMA hosts nationally and
internationally known mosaic artists and arts professionals for the Visiting Artist Series and hosts a Mosaic Lecture & Adventure Series which showcases the work of mosaic artists around the world.
The colorful IMA building is also home to Mosaic Studio Supply, a top-notch retail mosaic supply
store.

Mosaic Studio Supply, located inside the IMA building, is a complete mosaic shopping experience! MSS has hundreds of different types of tesserae to choose from as well as specialty tools, mosaic and art books, adhesives and grout, substrates, mosaic kits and items to inspire your creativity like colorful oil cloth from Mexico, aprons made of beautiful African fabrics and studio music from around the world. Mosaic Studio Supply specializes in hard to find, brightly colored tile for both interior and exterior applications.
