The Institute of Mosaic Art is a premier mosaic school in the United States, offering students technically solid instruction in the mosaic arts in a fun and welcoming environment. Institute of Mosaic Art is located in a colorful building in Oakland, California's Jingletown Arts District. IMA houses classrooms and lecture spaces with lots of room to create. There is a resource library in development and an outdoor courtyard area where we plan to create a mosaic sculpture garden.

IMA is proud to offer an extensive class schedule and a huge range of courses in both contemporary and traditional mosaic techniques, mosaic design, architectural applications, mosaic mural making, ceramic tile making and glass fusing for mosaics, as well as concrete and garden sculpture and many more courses for students of all levels-from beginner to professional.

Our wide hallways showcase rotating mosaic exhibitions of student and professional work and our resource library will offer information, books, articles and materials dating back to the turn of the century and up to the present time. IMA hosts nationally and internationally known mosaic artists and arts professionals for our Visiting Artist Series as well as presenting an exciting Mosaic Lecture & Adventure Series which showcases the work of mosaic artists around the world.

We are proud to announce the opening of our fabulous retail mosaic supply shop, Mosaic Studio Supply in the IMA building as of July 1st 2005. Mosaic Studio Supply has a extensive selection of mosaic supplies, materials, glass and ceramic tesserae, hard to find tools, Orsoni smalti, art and mosaic books and much, much more!

Last but not least, the Institute of Mosaic Art building houses True Mosaic Studios, our professional commissions studio. Laurel True and True Mosaics Studio have been doing architectural mosaics, residential and commercial commissioned work, public art and community projects both here and abroad for over 15 years.
