Join Myles Blackwood for a fun, creative workshop to create a free form plant/herb/birdbath basin for your garden or patio. Each workshop begins with a demonstration and individual practice at using Darjit for sculpturing details or creating substrates for further basin enhancement with mosaics. Next, the techniques for creating the skeletal forms for your Garden Sculpture are demonstrated. Wire netting and steel-bars are typically used for skeletal forms, which can also be made from recycled material such as buckets or pre-existing plant potters. A wide variety of effects can be achieved with Darjit, including embedded mosaic patterns, impressed patterns, textured finishes and hand crafted fine details. Instructor Myles Blackwood will be available to help each participant with technique and construction approaches for their individual design. The student should be able to complete two projects if working quickly. If you have an interest in creating a basin to hold plants, water, seeds for flying backyard pets, this workshop will take you through the steps to complete a basin for you garden, courtyard or deck. This class would be great for creating a substrate to mosaic in another course or experimenting at home!

The student needs to bring:
Wire cutters
Rubber gloves AND work gloves for working with wires and sharp pointy objects
Appropriate clothing that can get messy, and will keep you warm
Any tiles, scrapers, print forming shapes that you would like to use in order to create a truly unique Garden Basin
Bring lunch, or be prepared to buy lunch near by.
