GLASS FUSING FOR MOSAICS
One Day Intensive

Materials: $45 (payable to instructor first day of class)

This one-day course is designed to give students an introduction to the basics of glass fusing (melting glass pieces in a kiln) to form their own glass pieces to use in mosaics. Students will learn techniques to make individual tesserae from different layers of glass as well as experimenting with piecing glass together to make larger pieces. (Remember shrinky dinks? Glass fusing is like adult shrinky dinks ;-) If you think glass mosaic are beautiful, wait until you see what fused glass can look like in a mosaic!

Students will use transparent glass, opaque glass and dichroic metallic glass to achieve new and different glass textures and colors. Lecture will cover glass compatibility, basic mechanics of glass fusing and cutting and how to integrate their designs into larger mosaic works.

No experience necessary, total beginners welcome. Student work available for pick-up the following week during Mosaic Studio Supply hours to allow for firing.
