Make a one-of-a-kind mosaic sphere for your home or garden in this great summer course! This is the same process that has been featured on DIY Network with Laurel True.

In this exciting class, students will learn to cover and existing form with hand- cut tesserae, working with the natural curves of the three-dimensional surface.

Students will work with high- fire ceramic tile, glass or mixed media using cement- based and other appropriate adhesives that will withstand the elements. Materials available for use in class will include tile, mirror, stained glass and various mixed media tesserae. Class will cover design considerations for the spherical form and lecture regarding exterior applications for mosaic sculpture.

The second day of the class will be devoted to mosaic setting, to allow for slightly more complicated designs and to have ample time to cover the surface of the sphere in class. There will be a grouting demonstration and grout color selection lecture at the end of the second day. Students will take their completed spheres home and grout on their own.

Additional materials fee will apply for larger spheres, or, students may bring additional materials of their own.
