Mosaic Summer Camp For Adults
Whole Week of Mosaic Projects and Fun!

Instructor: Rachel Rodi

If you love mosaics, this is the week for you!

Come spend a week immersed in the world of mosaics! In a series of lectures and demonstrations, the instructor will present an overview of different mosaic media, including fine art, garden, wall, glass and stone mosaics. Summer camp students will be introduced to the design and creation of contemporary and historic mosaics through a field trip, guest lectures, and colorful video and slideshows presentations. The class will touch on traditional setting styles and guidelines, and expose students to contemporary and offbeat styles.

In several exercises, new students will learn basic, solid mosaic building techniques alongside experienced students who will be encouraged to stretch their creative imaginations. Students will design and build colorful group projects and work on individual interior and exterior pieces to take home. Additional mosaic projects may include casting simple concrete shapes for bases, making three-dimensional objects, preparing mosaic compounds on mesh or producing an exterior wall mural near the IMA studio. The sky's the limit!

On the final session day, class ends at 1pm and will be followed by a field trip to San Francisco.

Wear your work clothes, bring a lunch, a great attitude and an open mind to camp!

This is not for students who want to work on their own projects from home
