Three Day Mosaic Intensive
Instructor: Sonia King
Institute for Mosaic Art is delighted to host master mosaic artist Sonia King in the Visiting Artist Series. Sonia King is an internationally renown mosaic artist, instructor and author. Her award-winning mosaic art is recognized in galleries, architectural and community settings; and public, private and corporate collections.
Sonia will lead this Mosaic Intensive class with a goal of offering "an elevated sense of what mosaic is all about." The instruction will include "a new way of thinking about mosaic work" coupled with knowledge that will "enable students to push their work to the next level." This mosaic art class will specifically cover working with texture, scale, andamento and spacing; achieving effects through varied cutting and laying styles and/or mixed materials; and working directly with cement-based adhesive.

A substrate (16" x 14") will be provided. Students should bring the materials they would like to work with. Some materials will offered to augment those that students bring. Students can purchase project materials at a discount at IMA's Mosaic Supply Store on site.
