Save that empty wine bottle and get creative! Recycle and turn that bottle into art. Laurel Skye has been teaching her unique style of mosaics for close to 12 years now. In this workshop the instructor will focus on turning wine bottles into jeweled one of a kind mosaic treasures, using the coolest of glass tiles and 24K gold.

The instructor will begin with soldering techniques. Students will learn how to use solder, flux, ball chain and copper foil to create decorative embellishments and finished edges. Laurel will show students how to create an antique finish once solder is applied. Students will also work with applying images under glass as focal points and how to apply clear adhesive to avoid air bubbles.

Using Laurels' cutting technique, students will learn the best way to cut glass to mosaic around curved surfaces and small areas, such as the bottle neck. Students will be using two types of adhesive. Examples will be shown as options on designing and patterning for curved surfaces as well as other bottle shapes.

Materials to Bring: Empty wine bottle (labels removed), Images and/or text to be applied under glass, and costume jewelry (optional)
