Students will learn how to build an Italian- style wood fired oven made out of sculptural Darjit (like concrete). These ovens have a high quality refractory core, fire brick floor, with an outer, weatherproof sculpted finish.
This course will cover all the steps in building an oven with demonstrations on all materials used. Instructor will build an oven start to finish during the workshop, students can participate in the process as they like. On day two, instructor will demonstrate different finish shapes, textures and details with Darjit Architectural sculpting compound.
These ovens can be built outside or in your home. They are traditionally used as bread ovens and became famous in Naples for the gourmet pizzas cooked in them.
