Mosaic Portraiture

What a fabulous way to honor a beloved person or pet!
In this course, students will create a texture rich, colorful and whimsical12"x12" mosaic portrait made with ceramic and glass tile. Each student's portrait is based on a photograph and is guaranteed to look like the subject! Class will include lecture and demonstration on how to translate a photo into a design for mosaics, as well as use of mosaic tools and techniques.
This course is designed for beginning and continuing mosaic students. No mosaic experience necessary. Instructor will work with each student to help him or her develop a project suited to their skill level. All materials will be provided. Additionally (and optional), students may bring in any special trinkets or items of significance to incorporate into their mosaic.
Students will need to email a photo of their subject to instructor Delaine Hackney prior to the workshop. The general quality of the photo is not important, however a photo that shows good detail in the subject's face is ideal. Profile angles are easier.
