Pebble Mosaics

Beautiful and intricate pebble mosaics are an extraordinary addition to any mosaic collection. In this mosaic art class on Pebble Mosaics, heralded mosaic artist Dmitry Grudsky will explain this ancient form of mosaic art that uses a reverse method to construct designs out of cast cement, sand and pebbles. This popular class will include a photo presentation on various types of pebble mosaics, as well as techniques for using different pebble sizes and composites. For students new to casting, the instructor will demonstrate how to use cement-based materials to form hardened molds.
Institute for Mosaic Art students will successfully design pebble mosaics and become familiar with pouring and shaping castings. If they choose, students may take to class some pebbles they've collected or gathered from home or in other environments. Each student will create and take home a 12"x12" stepping stone pebble mosaic that can be placed in a garden or path.
