A note from Institute of Mosaic Art owner Denise Bavier

Institute of Mosaic Art is truly a special community. A destination for the best mosaic instruction, both in quality and variety of classes.

As a former teacher and a lifelong student, I love the dynamics created through classes at IMA. Many new friendships are formed, there is a lively exchange of ideas, and there is never a shortage of inspiration!

I have felt a wonderful sense of belonging here that everyone seems to share. I hear laughter in the classrooms and see the joy of accomplishment for students on completion of a class or a project.

So often we are all so busy, it is easy to feel "out of the loop". When that happens, it seems we miss a sense of community and belonging. The beauty of taking a class and IMA is that whether you live in the Bay Area, outside the state or in another country, you are a part of this community!

I encourage students to keep in touch with the people they meet in classes, come for another class, for Mosaic Cafe, or sign up for one of our mosaic labs.

One of the best ways to keep in touch and maintain that sense of belonging is to join our IMA Yahoo and Facebook groups — great way to keep in touch with fellow students, find and share inspiration and stay informed.

Mosaic art is a wonderful form of creative expression — a wonderful way to "slow down" in our fast-paced world. Mosaic art provides a way to beautify one's surroundings and also to unify communities and groups of people, allowing us to share, play and laugh.

So come learn, create and play at Institute of Mosaic Art soon. IMA is truly a happy, welcoming place!
