Now is Your Chance by Jeannie Houston Antes

2008 was a whirlwind year with lots of great classes, visiting instructors and projects here at IMA. Lots of excitement and lots of fun.

We look forward to seeing you in 2009 for a class, to enjoy our exhibitions and in Mosaic Studio Supply! We are in our fourth year now at IMA and proud to be serving the mosaic and art community both in the Bay Area and from around the world.

In December we welcomed Emma Biggs from England who taught a sold out course, Design and Color for Mosaics. IMA was also happy to have Sonia King back to teach her popular Advanced Mosaics class.

On the first weekend of the New Year, Visiting Instructor Madeline Behrens-Brigham graced one of our classrooms with piles and piles of art materials for students of New Mosaics — New Year's Affirmations. Students created assemblages and collages about what they would like to bring into their lives in the New Year. Madeline's next class, Renegade Quilting will be great fun. To quote Madeline, in response to a student asking if it was necessary to have quilting experience to be in the class, she said, "No, it's even better if you don't!".

So jump in!

Words from Wesley...

I have had an interest in art since I was young. I took many art classes in high school and college, but graduated from U.C. Santa Barbara with a degree in computer science. Soon after graduation, I took a stained glass class from a shop owner in Goleta and discovered the ideal medium for my creative juices...Read More...

Randi Casenza — Solo Exhibition
12" x 12" x 12: A Year in Mosaics
8-8-08
8-8-08 by Randi Cassenza

"This series began almost as a spiritual discipline, a desire to make a commitment for one year and see it through. I would do one 12" by 12" mosaic a month for the year, 2008. Subject matter was driven by what was going on in my life that month. It could be a memory, a feeling, a wish or an event. The only constraints were time, one month for each mosaic, and the size, 12 inches square."
