It Bites Detail, by Jeannie Houston Antes |
We have three wonderful mosaic exhibits showing right now at IMA. The walls are full of art with the below exhibitions as well as work from our permanent collection.
The Future is NOW
Work by Jeannie Houston Antes
Mixed media mosaics that explore themes like creation, love, passion and fate.
The combined desire to build things and tell stories about her experiences have come together in the form of Jeannie's mosaic assemblages. Using found objects, glass, and jewelry, broken ceramics, photos, bottle caps and typefaces, Jeannie creates a visual narrative about her world.
 8-8-08 by Randi Cassenza |
Randi Casenza
12" x 12" x 12: A Year in Mosaics
"This series began almost as a spiritual discipline, a desire to make a commitment for one year and see it through."
Mosaic artist and longtime IMA student Randi Casenza created one mosaic a month during the year 2008, inspired by her life. This visual journal is a compelling example of the creative process unfolding and a showcase of mosaic methods and materials.
Visions / Journeys New Work by Laurel True
 Invisible by Laurel True |
True's new series of work combines materials and elements from around the world- from remote West African villages to the street corners of New Orleans and East Oakland. Working with elemental themes and the concepts of life, birth, beauty and decay, True weaves together both traditional and non-traditional mosaic media and techniques in her new work.
