There are so many exciting things happening at Institute of Mosaic Art. IMA is about to move into our fifth year in Jingletown, Oakland and we'll be starting summer out with some great classes.

Our outdoor garden classroom is a wonderful place to learn about Darjit, concrete sculpture and more, or just to site and eat lunch and enjoy the murals and mosaic sculpture garden. Come down and help us celebrate our anniversary, enroll for a class and enjoy the new exhibits.

We have a wonderful lineup of student, faculty and guest artist exhibitions this summer. All exhibits will open with a bang on the first weekend of East Bay wide Open Studios with an artists reception on Sunday, June 7th 3-6 p.m. during with we will celebrate Institute of Mosaic Art's 4th anniversary.

We are excited to present multiple student exhibits showcasing the work of beginning students and curated by IMA instructors and Visiting artists.

Jingletown in June

There is lots of art activities this June in and around IMA's Jingletown neighborhood.
East bay open studios
Come down and take a tour of the 17 mosaic murals in the neighborhood, have a bite to eat at one of our local cafes or restaurants and check out the dozens of artist's studios and galleries that will be open to the public the first two weekends of June.

Open Studios and Art Walk
East Bay Open Studios sponsored by Pro Arts Gallery and Jingletown Art Walk
Saturday and Sunday June 6 - 7 And Saturday and Sunday June 13- 14
11- 6 pm both days

Dozens of artists will be exhibiting their work in Jingletown, with many open studios and several galleries. Start at IMA and get a map to guide you to the different studios and points of interest!

Don't forget to visit the East Bay Open Studios preview exhibition at Pro Arts Gallery on Tuesday, May 5.

Estuary Art Attack
2nd Friday of every month
Beginning Friday June 12, 2009
6:00.pm. - 10:00 p.m.
Oakland/Alameda Estuary and Alameda Island

Many studios and galleries and restaurants in Alameda — right over the bridge from IMA and Jingletown — will be open for the first Estuary Art Attack.

The Institute of Mosaic Art would like to invite students to show work they have created in classes at IMA!

Grads of the following classes, please submit your work for these non- juried exhibition. A great way to share your talent with others.

Important Dates:
Drop off dates: May 29-31 from 10:00a - 5:00p
Exhibit dates: Saturday, June 6 - Sunday, August 30th
Reception and IMA 4th Anniversary Celebration: Sunday, June 7th 3:00p - 6:00p

Work must be rigged for hanging, IMA will not accept any work that is not rigged for hanging.
Wall pieces must be less than 50 pounds.
Sculpture pieces must be less than 100 pounds.

All work must include a completed entry form AND the following information attached to the back of each piece of artwork: Name, Title, Materials/Media, Phone, Price or NFS.
